Custom Masonry – Driveways & Grand Entrances

The entranceway to a property creates an important first impression, setting the tone and conveying how you feel about your home. There are many factors at play in achieving a well-designed entrance including, aesthetics, maneuverability, functionality and security. Also very important are the size, shape, and material types chosen. Here are some features and materials to consider:

Driveways

The amount of traffic and cars you expect when using your driveway will determine the size and shape. Certain materials such as concrete pavers and asphalt are recommended for driveways, while others such as natural stone should be avoided due to various reasons. Our landscape designers will discuss these options with you as well as any additional items you may want to include such as decorative gates or radiant heat.

Aprons

An apron is essentially a band of pavers or natural stone that add important detail or define an area in a driveway. Aprons bring an element of personal design which adds attractive ‘curb appeal’ to your home. Our landscape designers will discuss the various materials and patterns that can make an ordinary driveway into a work of art.

Approach

The approach is the transition from your driveway to the front door. The ability to enter and exit from your car comfortably, while allowing enough space for multiple individuals to traverse the area, is as important as the visual appeal of the grander design. The approach needs to serve the needs of the home both functionally as well as aesthetically.

Light Piers

Light Piers offer a very distinct and functional use when entering a property. They can be built with many different materials such as natural stone, cultured stone, or concrete pavers; allowing them to achieve a variety of sizes, shapes, and styles. They can frame a driveway entrance or be incorporated into decorative retaining walls lining the approach to the home. In addition, they also offer security by illuminating the entrances and exits to specific areas of the property.

The Grand Entrance and Driveway is your opening statement, defining the image of how your home is presented and continuing that theme throughout the property.
